About the Project

Eolus intends to build a wind power park in Öresund, which with only 23 wind turbines would produce 1.1–1.3 terawatt-hours of renewable electricity annually. This corresponds to approximately 10 percent of the entire electricity consumption in Skåne, and would be a significant addition to a growing region.

A few hundred meters above sea level, there is enough wind to generate electricity more than 90 percent of the time. Coexistence with shipping, air traffic, professional fishing, and defense is entirely possible, while the wind power park can be designed to have positive effects on the marine environment. Increased electricity production in the region could also contribute to lower electricity prices, economic development, and the transition to an electrified society.

In recent years, extensive investigations and impact assessments have been carried out for an upcoming permit assessment. This includes detailed seabed surveys, inventory of marine flora and fauna, bird and bat surveys, risk analyses, visual impact analyses on the landscape, sound emission calculations, and examinations of the impact on marine mammals and fish.
