At the end of 2014, the amount of installed capacity in Latvia was 62 MW. Latvia has excellent wind conditions in both western and central regions of the country, but the major uncertainty around the design of a support scheme is slowing opportunities for expansion.
At the end of the 2014/2015 fiscal year, Eolus developed projects in Latvia with an expected capacity of about 380 MW. Eolus has been granted the exclusive right to evaluate Bergvik Skog’s Latvian landholdings (approx. 100,000 ha) in order to identify suitable sites for profitable wind power projects, with a possibility to sign agreements for the establishment of wind power facilities. The Latvian operation also includes reviewing the possibility of taking over ongoing projects in Lithuania.
